Helen Roper didn't care what anyone thought. She showed up in a kaftan and owned every room she walked into. This July, we're all Mrs. Roper.

Join Girl Trips for an unforgettable three hour cruise on the Ottawa River aboard the Ottawa River Queen. Think bold prints, oversized sunglasses, chunky beads, passed hors d'oeuvres, taco bar, great music, a dance floor, prizes, and a boatload of women who know how to have a good time.

This is not a quiet boat cruise. This is a statement.

What's the statement? That we are far past caring what people think of us and we're up for a good party -- as long as we can be in bed by 11.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Your ticket includes a taco bar loaded with all the fixings, passed hors d'oeuvres, a DJ spinning the GenX hits you actually want to dance to, a proper dance floor, prizes, swag, and three hours on the beautiful Ottawa River with your people. The cash bar is on board and ready for you -- I suggest arriving thirsty.

WHAT TO WEAR

Channel your inner Mrs. Roper. Think kaftans, bold florals, oversized sunglasses, chunky jewellery, and if you really want to commit, an orange wig. There will be a best dressed prize so bring your A game. No costume? No problem. Come as you are and absorb the energy.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is your refund policy? All ticket sales are final and non-refundable. However tickets are transferable if you can't make it, you're welcome to pass your ticket along to another lucky woman. Just email hello@girltrips.ca to let me know and we'll sort it out.

Is this event for all ages? Roper on the River is a 19+ event designed with women 40 and up in mind. Younger women are welcome but fair warning GenX women on a boat with a cash bar and a DJ set the bar pretty high.

Do I have to dress up? Absolutely not. A costume is encouraged and there is a best dressed prize for those who go all out, but you're welcome exactly as you are.

What if I don't know who Mrs. Roper is? Google her immediately and then buy a ticket. You won't regret it.

What's included in my ticket?Passed hors d'oeuvres, taco bar, music, and prizes. Drinks are available for purchase at the cash bar on board.

What happens if there's bad weather? Roper on the River is a rain or shine event. The Ottawa River Queen is a covered vessel so a little rain won't stop the party. In the rare event of severe weather preventing departure, the event will take place at the dock and we'll set sail as soon as conditions are safe. In 10 years this has only happened a handful of times, the show goes on!

Are men welcome? Stanleys, Jacks, and Larrys are absolutely welcome if accompanied by a Helen. This is a celebration of women having the time of their lives, not a dating event. Come to cheer us on, not chat us up.
